Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz is her father, while Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father came from the Jewish family Ryder thinks she's Jewish. The actress has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sibling is Uria. Ryder's parents moved her and her siblings to Mendocino County California when Ryder was seven years old. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder who loved reading when she was 12 years old, became a reader because Ryder did not have access to television. Ryder aged 12 took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. When she was 15, Ryder landed her first part on screen, in Lucas. Ryder was bullied throughout her high school years. Her professional acting, she believed to help, could have helped her. However, the plan didn't pan out. But she continued to pursue her dreams. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was a star in several films. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated to win Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part in The Age of Innocence.
